UNIT 5

In this project, rural Hong Kong – a landscape of abandonment – becomes a speculative model of countryside living, revitalising the rural through the implementation of industry. Embedded within a rapidly declining environment, it imagines a symbiotic exchange between the heavily polluting underbelly of TaoBao LED manufacturing and its parasitic camouflage of idyllic rural living above. Light forms the architectural driver, where the unique nature of production provides a landscape of constant illumination.
