UNIT 5

The Airpocalypse Archive is an environmental data centre and air sample archive, sited in Shanghai’s Expo Park. It acts as the ‘mothership’ for the collection data and samples from monitoring stations throughout the city and as an archive/lab for testing them. The redevelopment of the site will attempt to challenge the ways in which Shanghai chooses to preserve its ecology and offer a competing narrative for China’s highly politicised sustainable urbanism.
